Frederick is an international mining executive with 15 years of experience working with companies in the UK, Canada and Australia. He co-founded Elemental Royalties as a private company and has advanced it through Listing in 2020 and subsequent mergers with Altus Strategies PLC in 2022 and EMX Royalty Corp. in 2025. Prior to Elemental, he was Managing Director of a UK-listed gold exploration company, Goldcrest Resources PLC and General Manager of an ASX-listed uranium exploration company, Resource Star Ltd. Frederick received the ‘Young Rising Star’ Award at Mines & Money 2018, holds a Master of Arts in History from the University of Edinburgh and was on the founding committee of Young Mining Professionals in London.

From a $2M Royalty to closing a $290M Deal with a $1.95B Market Cap: Fred Bell of Elemental Royalty

Elemental Royalty CEO Fred Bell joins Jim Paterson and Brien Lundin at Beaver Creek, the day after announcing the largest transaction in the company’s history: a US$290 million acquisition of five streams and royalties from Orion. Fred first met Jim in Zurich in 2017, when Elemental was a private company that had to split a $2 million royalty with a partner because it couldn’t fund the deal alone. He explains how the company went from giving away deals it couldn’t afford to closing them on its own, why it is moving its generation business into a separate vehicle, and why some sellers have chosen Elemental shares over cash. His closing lesson: good people introduce you to other good people, and in this business, reputation is everything.
